Musical Director - Alex Greenfield
Alex Greenfield, our new MD
|
Plans for the 2020/21 season of the Gainsborough Choral Society are, not surprisingly, still very unclear.
In Early March, the society took the decision to cancel the planned “Broadway Nights” concert planned for 28th March. This was to have been Richard Green’s last concert as Musical Director, and it was sad that we were unable to celebrate this occasion as expected. The Society is indebted to Richard for his hard work and enthusiasm during his time as MD. We welcome Alex Greenfield as the new MD and hope that we will soon be able to welcome him to full time rehearsals!
More recently, the GCS committee took the decision to postpone the planned November 2020 concert to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the sailing of the Pilgrim Fathers. This was to include the first performance of a specially commissioned work by David Fawcett. The current plan is to re-schedule this concert for November 2021.
In the meantime, the Committee watch the constantly changing rules and guidance relating to the COVID – 19 situation closely, and are considering how we might safely resume rehearsals and concerts. As soon as any decisions are made they will be published on this site and on the Society’s facebook and twitter accounts.
Once there is a clearer picture of what the 20/21 season will look like, decisions on membership and patron fees will be made.
We always welcome new singers to our group, and although we cannot rehearse at present, anyone interested in joining should make contact with the Secretary, Deirdre Speed on info@gainsboroughcs.co.uk.
